St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, 6671 Germantown Avenue, will join with Philadelphia Fight (www.fight.org) to participate in National HIV Testing Day on Sunday, June 27, 2010 from 10 am to 2 pm. Beginning worship will consist of Vicar Debbie Stein and Pastor Ingram being tested, and a temple talk of a member of Philadelphia Fight sharing their story. Testing for the congregation and the general public others will take place in a private section of the building.
This program is a part of the 16th Anniversary of National HIV Month during the month of June. The theme this year is “Take the Test, Take Control.” Today, the Center of Disease Control estimates approximately 250,000 Americans are living with HIV but unaware of their HIV status. HIV testing is a critical first step in taking control and responsibility over one’s health.
